*Battlefield 3* is the upcoming first person shooter in the series that
started way back in 2002 with Battlefield 1942. *Urban warfare* Battlefield 3
is a modern day US military shooter, set in realistic scenarios around the
world. This beta multiplayer map is set in Paris. It's a huge map, with the
'Rush' game mode taking place in three distinct areas, from a city park, to
the Metro and back overground. The contrast between the overground fighting
and cramped, claustrophobic metro tunnels is stark, and it'll take players a
while to learn the space. *Graphics* Looking at screenshots and gameplay
videos, it's clear that like Crytek's recent Crysis 2, the star of
Battlefield 3 is likely to be it's new engine. DICE's Frostbite 2 looks like
a huge step up from the previous version, famous for it's destructible
environments. Soldiers' movements are really convincing, and the level of
detail in the new 3D environments is just staggering. Battlefield 3 looks
streets ahead of the competition, and it's hard to believe another game will
compete in terms of graphics despite the game not being released until after
summer 2011. *Multiplayer* As well as a great looking single player campaign,
Battlefield 3 wouldn't be a Battlefield game without a serious multiplayer
component. This iteration promises games with up to 64 players, and while
that may not match Sony's MAG, is still impressive and will no doubt make the
game even more intense. *Battlefield 3 is shaping up to be the FPS to beat
