Spotflux 1.0-Browse privately, protected and ad free

*Spotflux* is a diminutive application that allows you to browse the internet
securely, privately, and safely. There are plenty of programs like Hotspot
Shield, TunnelBear, and CyberGhost VPN that allow you to browse content that
is not available to you locally. Spotflux differentiates itself by touting
its *privacy and security features*. SpotFlux runs silently in the background
and sits in your system tray. There is only an on/off button on the main
interface. After it's turned on, you can forget about it. Spotflux is great
for browsing on *public wifi networks* or if you just want to *encrypt and
secure* your connection, say when you're entering sensitive information on a
site. One of the coolest features of Spotflux is its ability to *block ads*.
There are browser extensions that do this but is is nice to have Spotflux
block advertisements system-wide. This also means that you won't be tracked
online and it will help save a little bandwidth since you don't have to load
heavy flash ads. Like Hotspot Shield, Spotflux also offers *malware and virus
protection*. This is a nice buffer between you and an infection. It is still
recommended that you run an antivirus program alongside though. If you
require a proxy, Spotflux will let you enter in your *proxy server* manually.
This is great for those who are paying for a proxy service but unfortunately
it doesn't provide a built-in proxy like TunnelBear. *Overall, Spotflux is a
lightweight app that will protect, secure, and make your browsing
private.*Download *Spotflux 1.0* in Softonic

Bartender beta 0.9.05-Manage your unruly menu bar icons

*Bartender* is a clever application for Mac that helps you tame your unruly
menu bar icons. There are many apps on the Mac that come bundled with a menu
bar icon that acts as a heads up display for notifications. Popular apps like
Dropbox, Alfred, Growl, and Adium all come with menu bar icons but they can
quickly take over your entire menu bar! Bartender solves this problem by
moving your menu bar icons into the Bartender app. Bartender is *extremely
flexible*. You can tell it to always show an icon, only show it when there's
an update, or hide it all together (if that's not an option within the app
itself). This makes the OS X menu bar act much like *Window's system tray*.
In use, Bartender worked well for taming most of our icons but *a few
applications didn't play nicely* and didn't show up in the Bartender app at
all. This is disconcerting and hopefully the developers will fix this issue.
You can set custom *keyboard shortcuts* to bring up Bartender for quick
access. You can also drag Bartender's tray across the menu bar to place where
you like. *Overall, Bartender is a great tweak that make OS X's menu bar
icons manageable.*Download *Bartender beta 0.9.05* in Softonic

Discourse Metro App 1.0-Create and browse news feeds

*Discourse* is a minimalist app designed to let you read your *customized
news feeds* without being distracted by its interface. The design of
Discourse follows the aesthetics of the Windows 8 Metro interface. Your
different news *feeds appear as tiles*, and clicking on a feed will expand it
into another page of scrollable tiles of news stories. While reading, users
will have the ability to save articles to view offline. While Discourse has
the ability to import RSS feeds via URL, there is *no Google Reader
integration*, which is a major let down. You will have to build your feeds
manually by browsing their collection of feeds and sites. This is a pain,
especially if you are an avid Google Reader user. Hopefully Discourse will
integrate importing Google Reader, Facebook, and Twitter feeds in an update.
Applications like Reeder, Flipboard, and Pulse provide a much richer and
personalized experience. In this early version of Discourse, there were a lot
of *missing features*. There is *no ability to share* articles at all. Many
feeds will only give you a couple of sentences, forcing you to click out to
the story. In doing so, Discourse will open up Internet Explorer, taking you
out of the app. This is *distracting and inelegant*. Photos also don't expand
when you tap on them. Reading articles is enjoyable for the most part but
would be massively aided by pagination. *Overall, Discourse aims to be a
minimalist newsreader but is too minimal for its own good. There are just too
many missing features that prevent Discourse from being a good news
aggregator.*Download *Discourse Metro App 1.0* in Softonic

ZoneAlarm Free Antivirus + Firewall 10.2.047.000-Antivirus and a firewall all in one program

*ZoneAlarm Free Antivirus + Firewall* is an aggressive move by Check Point
Software to combine two of the most sought after security features every PC
should have. With the antivirus market crowded by giants like AVG and Avast,
ZoneAlarm has to differentiate itself. ZoneAlarm Free Antivirus + Firewall
does just that by giving users two of the most important security features in
one *simple to use program*. *Features* ZoneAlarm Free Antivirus + Firewall
includes many powerful features for both their antivirus and firewall. There
is *real-time protection* against viruses, as well as *auto updating*
definitions and scheduling. ZoneAlarm Free Antivirus + Firewall will only
check for new definitions once every 24 hours, while its paid versions will
update as soon as new definitions are available. ZoneAlarm Free Antivirus +
Firewall's firewall features a log of the different programs that are
accessing the internet. The firewall will also give users a list of programs
and their "*Trust Level*," which is a good way to quickly glance at
suspicious applications. There is also phishing and spyware protection built
in. One surprising feature of ZoneAlarm Free Antivirus + Firewall is "*Game
Mode*," which allows you to temporarily suspend ZoneAlarm's popup
notifications for uninterrupted gaming. Users can also set it to allow all
firewall requests, which is obviously less secure. *Performance* Performance
of ZoneAlarm Free Antivirus + Firewall is very good. Quick scans take only a
few minutes. Full scans will take some time but are still an improvement over
older ZoneAlarm programs. The speed increase is a result of a *redesigned
scanning engine*. *Conclusion* While other programs have more advanced
features, ZoneAlarm has successfully combined two of the most important
security features for the average user and all for free. This makes it a very
useful program for virtually anyone needing this type of protection.
*ZoneAlarm Free Antivirus + Firewall is a comprehensive application that
provides basic firewall and antivirus features for the average user.*Download

Sumo Paint Air 3.6.5-A great image editor that runs on Adobe AIR

*Sumo Paint Air* is a tool that lets you create and edit images on your PC.
It runs on Adobe AIR, making it a lightweight addition to your desktop.
Professional image editors like Photoshop can cost a substantial amount of
money. If you're a novice graphic designer, you might not be willing or able
to pay full price for something that amounts to a hobby. Good thing there's
Sumo Paint Air. It's got *lots of great editing tools* to satisfy budding
designers. Best of all, it's free. *Image editing* With Sumo Paint Air you
can create your own images or modify an existing picture and tweak it to
perfection. Sumo Paint Air offers adjustments like color, saturation and hue
edits and the ability to change brightness and contrast. In addition, there
are a lot of fun filters to alter the appearance of your images, from
different pixelate effects to textures and different varieties of blur. There
aren't as many filters as other paid programs offer, but it's still a good
selection for a free program. If you're a bit more advanced, Sumo Paint Air
also offers *support for layers*. You'll be able to blend multiple images
together just as easily as you could on a professional graphics editor.
*Image creation* Sumo Paint Air can accommodate your own *image creation* as
well, and provides more than a dozen different tools to do so like a clone
brush, a magic wand, a selector tool, the ability to add text and flood fill,
to name a few. *Sumo Paint Air is a really useful program for graphic
designers on a budget.*Download *Sumo Paint Air 3.6.5* in Softonic

Musictube 1.1-Search and play music from YouTube

*Musictube* is an easy to use music player that sources its tracks from
YouTube. If you love using YouTube to look up music to listen to, you're
going to love this music player. Musictube offers a much more elegant
solution than searching for different tracks individually on YouTube. Its
interface is *beautifully designed* and will let you quickly search for
artists and tracks. When you play an artist in Musictube, the playlist will
be populated with tracks by that artist. One of the best features of
Musictube is the ability to *switch between the live, studio, or cover* of
the currently playing song. You can also enable the video of the song to be
played in a box on the bottom right. Musictube *supports up to 1080p* video.
There is also a *full screen mode* that lets you enjoy your music distraction
free. In use, Musictube worked fairly well but initial start up can be a
little *slow and buggy*, sometimes freezing for a minute. While Musictube is
beautifully designed and easy to use, it leaves much to be desired in terms
of *sound quality*, which is to be expected. YouTube uploads don't usually
have the best sound quality. It'd also be nice if Musictube included some
music discovery tools. This trial version of Musictube limits playlists to 10
tracks and doesn't support video. *OMusictube is a well designed and easy to
use YouTube music player although the sound quality and music discovery need
improvement.*Download *Musictube 1.1* in Softonic

Skitch Metro App 1.0-Edit and annotate your photos

*Skitch* by Evernote aims to help you *edit*, *annotate*, and *share* your
pictures easily. Skitch is a great screen capture application that is also
available on Mac, iOS, and Android that integrates with Evernote. The goal
Skitch is to help you *quickly edit and share* your screenshots and images
quickly. Strangely enough, this early app preview of Skitch is missing the
ability to take screenshots. You can still import your saved screenshots but
disappointingly, there is nothing in the app that helps you take screenshots.
Other than that major omission, Skitch is a *very basic photo editor*. You
can import photos from your Facebook, photos on your device, or you can even
take a picture with your tablet's camera to edit. You can *add text*, draw an
*arrow* or *shapes*, and *draw* on the picture. Alternatively, you can start
with a blank page to draw with your finger or mouse. Once you're done with
your creation, you can export your work or *quickly share to Evernote*. Some
users might be disappointed that there are no additional sharing features or
services like Facebook or Twitter as well. *Skitch for Windows 8 has a lot of
features to add before it can stand up to its other iterations on other
platforms. *Download *Skitch Metro App 1.0* in Softonic

Miro 5.0-Multimedia internet TV app with great HD support

Miro (formerly known as Democracy Player) is one of the most well known
internet TV apps out there aggregating content from everything from Hulu to
YouTube. First let's make it clear that Miro doesn't provide any of it's own
original content - it's an aggregator that tries to bring together media from
many different sources, but in a more organized and logical way. I guess you
could say it's an attempt to bring some kind of order to all the content out
there. It also allows you to view videos on stored on your Mac meaning that
Miro is trying to be a one stop player for all your video needs. One of the
big advantages of using Miro is that it allows you to subscribe to content
via RSS feeds or BitTorrent. So for example, if you never want to miss
another episode of Democracy Now, Miro will allow automatically download each
episode for you so that it's ready and waiting the next time you open it. Of
course, you can also use Miro to simply subscribe to YouTube channels as
well. There are tons of other features in Miro too such as the ability to
watch contents directly on LegalTorrents.com - as the name suggests, all
content is 100% legal - view content by most popular, most highly rated, by
genre, language and most recently, HD content only. On the downside, I found
Miro rather hard to digest in one go. There is so much going on within the
interface in terms of content that it's difficult to know where to begin. In
the end, I opted to choose content by genre which isn't as well highlighted
as it should be. At least this way, I felt I brought some kind of order to
Miro. I also found that a lot of the content I wanted to watch was only
available on Hulu and only to those in the USA. On the plus side, I like the
overall presentation of Hulu, the way it downloads programs instantly and
most of all, the way it suggests other channels I may be interested in when
viewing a program. *Miro is elegant and an excellent idea although you won't
be able to view all of the content you want to and you may find it a bit
overwhelming at first.*Download *Miro 5.0* in Softonic

AdwCleaner 1.604-Quickly search and delete adware

*AdwCleaner* is a simple adware, spyware and potentially unwanted program
scanner for Windows. AdwCleaner is a super *simple application* that has one
purpose: find and destroy adware on your machine. There is nothing to install
since the application is self contained. This is great as it can be a
*portable app* that you bring on a USB drive to scan multiple computers. It
also means that it doesn't touch the Windows registry and makes uninstalling
the app as easy as deleting it. In use, AdwCleaner is *extremely quick*, and
takes only several seconds to scan the entire computer. After the scan,
AdwCleaner spits out a text file with a list of the potentially unwanted
programs, registry files, and other files it thinks should be deleted. There
is *no option to change what you want to keep*, unfortunately. To clean your
computer, simply click the "Delete" button and AdwCleaner will close all open
applications and delete the harmful files. *A reboot is required* after
cleaning. *AdwCleaner is a simple to use adware cleaner that works
effectively, with a small footprint and quick scanning.*Download *AdwCleaner
